Welcome to River Drama

Who are we?

A drama and dance group for children and adults with Down’s Syndrome

River Drama is a community group where people with Down’s Syndrome can express themselves through drama, music and dance and meet up with other members of the community to learn about performance, socialise and have fun in a supportive and friendly environment.

As well as weekly sessions we organise trips to local theatre shows and the adult groups meet in the summer for Academy Week culminating in a performance at the end of the week.

We’re recruiting new members to our Youth Group who are currently aged 10-15 years. Why not get in touch using our contact form and arrange to come for a taster session?

Unfortunately, we do not currently have spaces for additional adult students other than those moving up from the Youth Group.

When do we meet?

River Drama meets term time on

Saturday afternoon at the

Oast Theatre in Tonbridge

Youth Group - (ages 11 - 17) meet from 2:15pm to 2:55pm.

Adults meet in two groups with Academy 1 meeting 3:15 - 4:10pm and Academy A 4:30 - 5:25pm.

What do our sessions involve?

Our wonderful team of highly specialised drama and dance tutors deliver different sessions each week assisted by a rota of committee members and parent volunteers.

From learning dance routines to Mary Poppins or Our House, to improvisation and role play, the sessions are always varied and fun.

A River Drama Student having fun performing

"My daughter has been going to River Drama for 6 years and really looks forward to going every week. The sessions are varied, depending on the teacher, as they all bring their own creative style.

There's a mix of drama, dance and music.

Regularly attending has built her confidence and she has achieved a real sense of belonging within the group."
